Getting started
Who is WorkToDegree for?
WorkToDegree is for working professionals who are ready to earn a degree that reflects what they already know. Perhaps you are aiming for a promotion, planning a career change or looking forward to the pride of finishing. If you bring solid professional experience, certifications or earlier college credit, you may have learning a university can recognize, and we help you find accredited programs where that learning can be assessed.
How do I get started?
Start with a free Pathway Snapshot. Fill in the form on our site with your background, your goals and the countries that interest you. A Pathway Specialist reviews your details and replies by email within two business days with the routes that suit you, including countries, programs and likely credit routes. It is a relaxed first step, and you decide what comes next.
What happens after I send the form?
Your Pathway Specialist reads your details carefully and compares them with accredited programs in the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia. Within two business days, you receive an email outlining the routes that fit your goals and how each university approaches prior learning. From there, you can explore the Match, Apply or Complete package, or simply take time to think it over.
Can I apply if I live outside the US, UK and Australia?
Yes, in many cases. Universities in all three countries accept international online applicants for many of their programs, so you can earn your degree from wherever your career has taken you. Entry requirements vary by university and program, including documents, prior qualifications and English proficiency. Your Pathway Specialist highlights the programs that welcome applicants from your country, so you can plan with confidence.
Will I need to show my English proficiency?
Universities may ask for evidence of English proficiency, especially if your earlier education was in another language. Requirements vary by university and program. Many accept recognized tests such as IELTS, TOEFL or PTE Academic, and some consider earlier education taught in English. Your Pathway Specialist notes each program's requirement, so you know exactly what to prepare and can move forward smoothly.
Credit and universities
Which countries and degree levels can I explore?
You can explore accredited programs at universities in the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia. In the US, that includes associate, bachelor's and master's degrees; in the UK and Australia, bachelor's and master's degrees. Each country has its own name for prior-learning credit, such as PLA in the US and RPL in the UK and Australia, and your Pathway Specialist explains how it works at each university.
Is my degree the same as other graduates' degrees?
Yes. Your degree is awarded by the university and is the same degree every graduate of that program receives. Credit for prior learning is part of the university's own academic process, assessed against its course outcomes. Your experience covers part of the degree, and you complete the remaining modules with the university, typically online and around your work. The result is a qualification you can share with pride.
How much credit can I earn for my experience?
Each university assesses your experience and decides the credit, so amounts vary by university, by program and by the strength of your evidence. Universities also set their own maximum limits. Relevance, depth, recency and clear documentation all help your experience shine. Your Pathway Specialist sets out each program's credit policy, so you can choose where your experience has the most room to be recognized.
How long does it take to earn my degree?
Timelines vary by program, by the credit a university awards and by the pace you choose. Many programs for working professionals let you take one or two modules at a time, and some offer several start dates each year. Once a university confirms its credit decision, you can map out your remaining modules with clarity. Your written plan describes the structure of each shortlisted program.
How do you check that universities are accredited?
Every program on your shortlist is checked against official sources before you see it. In the US, that means the Department of Education's DAPIP database and CHEA's directories. In the UK, we confirm degree-awarding status through the OfS Register and the official lists linked from GOV.UK. In Australia, we use the TEQSA National Register. You are always welcome to run these checks yourself.
Packages, fees and refunds
Why is WorkToDegree independent?
Independence lets us focus entirely on your goals. We're independent, so every shortlist is built around you: your experience, your budget, your preferred country and the career you are working toward. Universities make every admission and credit decision, and our role is to help you find programs that fit, prepare strong applications and present your experience clearly and confidently.
What do the packages include?
Match ($290) includes a consultation, a verified shortlist of three to five accredited programs with each credit policy, and a written plan. Apply ($1,490), our recommended package, includes everything in Match plus portfolio coaching, document review and up to three applications. Complete ($2,490) includes everything in Apply plus up to five applications, credential coordination and first-term support. All three are one-time fees.
When do I pay, and how do university fees work?
Your Pathway Snapshot is free. If you decide to continue, you pay your chosen package's one-time fee when you select it, and that single payment covers the package. University fees, including application, assessment and tuition fees, are paid directly to each university on its own schedule. Your Pathway Specialist can point you to each university's published fees, so you can budget with clarity.
What is your refund promise?
We believe in the routes we recommend. If your applications end without an offer, 80% of your package fee is refunded. University fees are paid directly to each university, so any refund of those follows that university's own policy. Your Pathway Specialist is happy to walk you through how the promise works before you begin, so you can move ahead with peace of mind.
How do you look after my personal information?
Your information is used to prepare your Pathway Snapshot and, if you continue, to support your applications. Documents such as transcripts and employer letters go to a university when you choose to apply there. You can ask about or update your details at any time through the contact form, and our privacy policy explains how your information is stored and protected.
Your next chapter is closer than you think.
